Natural Newborn Photography & Baby-Led Posing

Your session can take place right here in my studio or in the comfort of your own home whichever works best for you. If I come to you your home becomes the backdrop so we capture your life exactly as it is. We’ll use the spaces you know and love to create photos that feel truly yours full of the little details and familiar surroundings that make your house a home. It’s all about real life and your special everyday moments. If you prefer coming to the studio I’ll work with clean simple white or black backgrounds instead. Everything is kept beautifully minimal so all the focus stays firmly on your baby. It creates that timeless classic look that never goes out of style.
To me natural photography is all about keeping things simple and beautiful with clean soft backgrounds so every bit of attention stays on your precious baby. I love that understated timeless look so I don’t pile on loads of props that can make things feel cluttered or look dated down the line. It also means you get to hold and snuggle your baby just like you do at home with no stiff or awkward positions and nothing forced. Just real gentle lovely moments.
When I’m taking photos of baby on their own I lay them down and let them settle into whatever curl or position feels most comfy for them. I might tweak things just a tiny bit to get the nicest framing but the pose is always guided by what baby prefers and what makes them happy. The result is soft relaxed photos that truly capture exactly who they are right now and all those tiny wonderful details that change in the blink of an eye.
My whole aim is to capture your baby exactly as they are on the day we meet with timeless genuine portraits that honour this fleeting little phase. I want to freeze the beautiful bond you share and all those little features you’ll want to remember forever. By keeping props minimal colours soft and neutral and letting baby take the lead I create images that feel classic and will still look amazing for generations to come.
I’ve done both lifestyle and traditional posed sessions in the past and I’ve found this natural style whether at home or in the studio is easily the most relaxed and enjoyable for everyone. If I come to you there is no need to get everything perfectly spotless and if you come to me you don’t need to tidy your house at all or stress hunting down special outfits. You also won’t spend ages waiting for baby to be fully asleep or going through lots of complicated setups. Instead you get to just enjoy being with your new little one while I capture all their sweetest bits and it really is lovely.
And yes I’m totally serious about safety because it is always my number one priority. Some of the more complex poses carry real risk if not done perfectly but baby-led posing removes that concern entirely. I’ll never place your baby in any position that isn’t completely safe and comfortable for them.
These sessions work so beautifully for family photos too where everything feels genuine and unforced. Parents and siblings aren’t just welcome I absolutely love having you all involved. This is such an amazing time in your lives and every single one of you is such an important part of it.
Finally unlike some sessions that can stretch on for four hours or more mine move along nicely. Baby doesn’t need to be fast asleep for every shot and I actually love capturing them awake too so we spend less time waiting and more time taking photos. That means you get a bigger gallery of lovely finished pictures to treasure.
